If you’re on a car forum you might share the first part of the VIN because it details when and where it was made and some options, but I would never share the last few digits that identify your vehicle uniquely. That would seem to be me asking for fraud.
Fortunately, these days I can get it online for free from any car already registered on Norwegian plates, so the only time I wouldn't be able to get it would be if the seller refuses to provide the registration number. Such a seller I would definitely not even buy a pack of chewing gum from.

I wouldn't buy a car from someone who refuses to give it out. Look: https://www.racingsportscars.com/report/Best-Used-Car-2023-04-expo.html
